Low fat, vegetarian version of the american classic. Put on top of your favorite bread or buns with or without slaw.
Ingredients:
- Lentils, 1 cup dry
- Organic Textured Soy Protein, 1 cup dry
- Tomato Paste, 6 oz
- Cumin, 2 tsp
- Chili powder, 2 tsp
- Salt, 1/3 tsp (or according to your personal salt preference)
- Black Pepper, 1/2 tsp (or according to your personal preference)
- Green Peppers 1/2 cup, chopped
- Onions, raw, 1/2 cup, chopped
- Carrots, 1/2 cup, chopped
- Cane Sugar, 2 tsp
- Garlic, 2 cloves, diced
- Rice Vinegar, 1 tsp (optional)
- 2 cups water
Instructions:
- Bring a pot of water to a boil, add lentils and carrots and simmer for about 30-60 min(or until lentils are tender). Drain. Mix Lentils and carrots with all other ingredients in a big pot and stir together. Cook on low for 20-30 min, or until most of the excess liquid has evaporated. Stir occasionally while it is cooking
