Ingredients

  • 1/2 small avocado pitted and peeled
  • 1 tablespoon plain yogurt unflavored
  • 2 tablespoons small curd cottage cheese or 2 tablespoons silken tofu mashed

Method

  1. Begin by preparing your avocado. Cut the 1/2 small avocado in half lengthwise, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a small bowl.
  2. Using a fork or the back of a spoon, mash the avocado until you reach your desired consistency—some prefer it completely smooth, while others like a few small chunks for texture.
  3. Pour in 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt and continue mashing, mixing the yogurt thoroughly with the avocado until well combined. The yogurt will help break down the avocado further while adding moisture and a subtle tang to the base.
  4. Next, add your choice of 2 tablespoons small curd cottage cheese or 2 tablespoons silken tofu to the mixture. If using cottage cheese, mash it slightly before stirring it in to help incorporate it more evenly.
  5. If using silken tofu, break it into small pieces and fold it gently into the mixture, stirring until you achieve a uniform, creamy consistency.
  6. Continue stirring until all ingredients are well combined and the guacamole reaches a smooth, luxurious texture without any visible lumps of avocado remaining.
  7. Once fully mixed, your Creamy Dreamy Guacamole is ready to serve. Transfer to a serving bowl and enjoy immediately for the best flavor and texture, or cover with plastic wrap pressed directly onto the surface to minimize oxidation if storing in the refrigerator.
  8. This lighter version of traditional guacamole maintains all the rich, creamy satisfaction while being surprisingly delicate on the palate.

Notes

Guacamole Substitutions and Variations

While this creamy dreamy version hits all the right notes, you’ve got plenty of room to play around with the base ingredients depending on what’s in your kitchen or what flavors you’re craving. Swap the yogurt for sour cream if you want tanginess, or skip it entirely for a thicker texture.
Greek yogurt works too, though it’s a bit richer. I’d honestly try mashed silken tofu on its own—it’s surprisingly smooth. For cottage cheese alternatives, ricotta’s got character, and cream cheese creates velvet-like consistency.
Want spice. Add jalapeño. Prefer brightness. Lime juice transforms everything. You’re fundamentally building your own version here.
